Mint Tea Made with Mint from Your Oliver

Mint Tea Made with Mint from Your Oliver

Mint tea is a timeless classic that never disappoints. It helps calm the nerves and soothe digestion, relieves the respiratory tract, and is also simply delicious when you're looking for a refreshing drink. Enjoy it hot or iced—its fresh aroma is loved by both adults and children.

What is it?

People have been drinking herbal teas for centuries. The famous Moroccan mint tea, known as Touareg tea, only began to be prepared during the 19th century by combining green tea with mint and plenty of sugar. Steeping time has a direct effect on both the strength of the infusion and its beneficial properties. Try experimenting to find the perfect fresh mint infusion made with mint grown in your Oliver. Tea brewed from freshly harvested mint has a noticeably different flavor from tea made with dried mint or mint that has been sitting in the refrigerator for several days.

When to serve it?

One of the best things about this refreshing drink is that it can be enjoyed throughout the day and for almost any occasion. It works perfectly in two versions:

  • Hot – when you want to soothe your stomach and unwind.

  • Iced – when you need a quick and refreshing pick-me-up.

Great for both flavor and wellness

Besides its beautiful aroma and refreshing taste, mint tea offers a range of soothing benefits. It helps calm the digestive system, relieves bloating, stomach cramps, and nausea. During a cold, menthol helps open the airways and has antibacterial properties. Mint also promotes relaxation, improves mood, and may help ease headaches. Since mint tea is naturally caffeine-free, it's an excellent choice before bedtime for overall relaxation.

Mint grown in Oliver is especially aromatic and juicy. Thanks to hydroponics, it grows in stable conditions without drought stress, allowing its leaves to develop a high concentration of fragrant essential oils. The result is a richer aroma and fresher flavor in every cup.

Mint Tea

Preparation time: 5–8 minutes

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 handful of fresh mint (about 10–15 leaves)

  • 250–300 ml water

  • Optional: a slice of lemon or lime

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey, syrup, or sugar

  • Optional: ½ teaspoon of Gunpowder green tea (2–3 g)

Instructions:

  1. Gently bruise the mint leaves by rubbing them between your palms or lightly pressing them in the mug. This releases the essential oils and gives the tea a more intense aroma.

  2. Pour over hot water (not boiling—80–90 °C / 175–195 °F is ideal). Boiling water may make both the mint and any green tea leaves taste bitter.

  3. Steep for 5–8 minutes. The longer the mint steeps, the stronger and more intense the flavor will be.

  4. Remove the leaves or strain the tea. Add lemon or lime if desired, and sweeten with honey, syrup, or sugar to taste.

Tips & Tricks:

  • For an authentic Moroccan-style mint tea, add a little Gunpowder green tea. Traditionally, it is brewed in a larger teapot (800–1000 ml), served piping hot, and generously sweetened.

  • For an iced version, let the tea steep for about 8 minutes or use more mint leaves. Allow it to cool, then pour it over ice and serve with lemon or lime.
